By Philip Miles

With a shop near every neighborhood, video stores have been the most convenient way to get movies for years. The next generation it seems will be getting their movies from movie downloads, avoiding any trips to the store. Following is a list of a few movies that you can get using a movie download site.

Heartbreaker: Chicano Allende falls for WASP Dunlap among an ambiance of custom-fitted cars. Dull self sufficient production is displeasingly devoid of observations into the lifestyle it portrays. Look quick for Patty "Apollonia" Kotero. Cast includes Daybreak Dunlap, Peter Gonzales Falcon, Michael D. Roberts, Miguel Ferrer, Pepe Serna, and Rafael Campos. (90 minutes, 1983)

Number One with a Bullet: Carradine and Williams do well in this somewhat normal action movie where we have aggressive investigators out to dethrone a drug kingpin. Cast includes Robert Carradine, Billy Dee Williams, Valerie Bertinelli, Peter Graves, Doris Roberts, and Bobby DiCicco. (101 minutes, 1987)

Barnyard: Excited zaniness set on a farm where, after sundown, the animals turn the barn into a loud nightclub. James is Otis, a young cow who is very mature, much to the chagrin of his dad, Ben Elliott, who keeps watch for preying coyotes when the others party. Irrera stands out as Duke the Mutt. Cast includes Courtney Cox, Sam Elliott, Danny Glover, Wanda Sykes, Andie MacDowell, David Koechner, and Laraine Newman. (90 minutes, 2006)

Coming To America: Prince Akeem has come to Queens N.Y. from Africa. Back in Africa, a wife has been selected for him to marry. Instead the Prince comes to America to find the love of his life, and marry her instead.

The Jackal: A Russian mobster seeing that the US is helping the Russian government fight crime, has hired master assassin the Jackal to kill the Director of the FBI. In a race against time, and with not much knowledge of the Jackal, the FBI enlists the services of IRA sniper Declan Mulqueen, bringing him out of jail to help. In a face pace race against time they work furiously to track the jackal down.

Absolute Beginners: This film is a British musical. The musical themes are jazzed based with Sade included in the performance. The film is set in London in the late 50's, with young men and women coming of age as the setting. Eddie O'Connell, Patsy Kensit, David Bowie, and James Fox star. (1986 musical)

Summer: A tender however whiny actress is forgotten about by her buddies on the eve of a group holiday, so goes it alone with disastrous outcomes at first. Seemingly more improvised than the older version. Cast includes Marie Riviere, Lisa Heredia, Vincent Gauthier, Beatrice Romand, and Carita. (96 minutes, 1986)

After Life: This is a beautifully informed story of case workers at a train station between the heavens who help the recently departed pick a lone minute from their pasts to live inside forever. This is a calm, poetic assessment of life, death, and memory, filled with soft humor and blessedly free of some feel-excellent bromides. Cast includes Aarata, Erika Oda, Susuma Terajirna, Taketoshi Naito, Kyoko Kagawa, Kei Tani, Takashi Naito, and Yusuke lseya. (118 minutes, 1998)

Doug's First Movie: The megastar of Television's Doug is characterized in this bland, formulaic tale, made exclusively for kids. Easy going preteen Doug attempts to spare an animal in need clash with his wish to take his lady friend to the school dance. This movie was built as a direct-to-video production. Voices of Thomas McHugh, Fred Newman, Chris Phillips, Constance Shulman, Doug Preis, and Alice Playten. (97 minutes, 1999)
