In earlier years, pool or billiards was usually considered a game believed in a seedy under-lit pool halls infused in thick cigarette smoke with shady characters of all stripes betting on a languid parlor game. The movie, The Color of Money, which starred Tom Cruise and the late Paul Newman, whose role of a veteran pool shark won for him his only Academy acting award, confirmed in the mind of the public the dubitable nature of pool. You need to develop a skill to play pool and have plenty of light to play it properly. Hence, there is every reason to have a pool table light.

With its newfound respectability, you can see pool games in ESPN and the best players earn hundreds of thousands of dollars in prizes and more on product endorsements. You will notice these games aired on TV that the pool halls are very well lighted, which is pretty similar to indoor basketball games at night.

A pool table light is there to provide adequate luminescence for the playing surface, the billiard balls, the cue stick, and everything involved in the game to be visible. They also produce an atmosphere enhancing the playing experience and the surrounding decor. Because of longstanding prejudices, many believe that an old ceiling light fixture is enough to illuminate the pool table and everything else on it.

A blinding spotlight over the pool table is not necessary for this purpose, illumination on the playing surface that does not cause glare or eye strain is what is necessary.

Hanging lamps or pendants are the most common lights for pool tables. With the basic design of pool tables being long and narrow, the lights must conform to the design. A billiard lamp as long as a billiard table is desired, but pool tables normally measuring eight feet long, this is not practical. A small light fixture over a pool table light is the sensible thing to have.

You need to consider that the light is at the center over the table. Players need to view clearly the corner pockets in this game of angles. A Guide to Building Muscle Quickly to Increase Your Bench Press

Everyone knows to build muscle up one of the best exercises for the upper body is the bench press. As always certainly one of the questions most bodybuilders want to know the answer to is: how much can you bench press? So, lets cut to the chase and find out how to build muscle now and get a bigger bench press:

Grow your triceps. As much as two thirds of the complete muscle mass on your arms is made up of the tricep muscle. The best exercises to build muscle mass on your triceps are using barbells and dumbells: close grip bench-presses and skull crushers. Isolation exercises are not as good as they isolate the muscle completely. They will definitely help add weight to your bench press.

Work your triceps separately. The majority of bodybuilding regimens advise that you workout the chest in the same session as the triceps. If you train the triceps separately, you can concentrate on them and get the muscle growing very quickly. Try this over a few weeks and then have a look at how many more kilograms you can bench press.

Variety. Have you been repeating the same old workout for months? After your muscles have done the same workout a few times, they have already adapted to it and therefore the need to grow has been removed. Keep changing things, they can be subtle changes like altering the grip width or reversing the order of your routine or they can be larger changes like doing super sets, compound sets and so on, these will give you a real pump by the way.

Make sure you are not doing too much. While with most things in life more is better, in muscle building this is not quite true. If you do too much and overtrain your chest then it can struggle to recover and find it hard to grow more. Focus on intensity and technique as opposed to quantity. A short intense workout is much more effective than a long drawn out one.

Solid rest. Your muscles are not going to grow in the gym! At rest is when they grow. If you don?t give enough time for growing then you simply won?t grow. Of course do not workout again when your muscles are still, a fair rule of thumb is to limit yourself to 6-9 sets each session for each muscle group, any more and you risk overtraining.

Take a break from training. If you hit a training plateau then consider taking a complete break. Allow your body to fully recuperate and eradicate all the strains and return a week or so later doubly motivated.

Examine your diet. Are you eating 6 meals per day with a minimum of 1 gram of protein for every pound of bodyweight you have? If you are not following this sort of diet, then it is probable that you are limiting your gains by not following a muscle building diet. In every meal try to eat 50% carbohydrates, 30% proteins, and the remainder can be fats.

Pay attention to your technique. Are you bench-pressing the proper way? It is imperative to pay close attention to your technique and to use proper form when doing your exercises. If you practice bad technique it can take away focus from the chest muscles and can put you in great risk of injury as well. Make sure you are not lifting your feet up off the floor and that your hands are not grabbing the bar too close together. These are the two most general mistakes people make when bench pressing.

Sometimes a small incident can get totally out of hand and result in unbridled anger that boils over without a moments notice and causes all kinds of trouble and after effects; and sometime it is a case of a long held grudge that just never seems to resolve itself and to make it just disappear, you need to take action and get it resolved. Whatever the source, whatever the cause; anger is insidious and needs to be taken care of as the situation warrants; and there are many forms of anger management activities that do just that.

The type of anger management activities employed to resolve the stress and flareups that occur, depend on the source and type of interaction that is taking place. Sometimes just a face to face encounter with the two people involved and letting them talk it out in a supervised environment is enough to stop the anger from mounting; and other times, a group interaction is needed---especially if the anger source is the workplace and you have more than one or two people involved.

There are a great variety of anger management activities around these days; and many of them are not just involving a group situation like you would find in the workplace; but more often, activities that you can do when you are totally alone to defuse the anger you are feeling building inside you. One of these very popular activities is journaling. Journaling is a very powerful means to get the stress out that is eating you up from the inside out, because it is harnessing that anger and getting the raw emotion out on paper using rational thought to express it, and letting you sort out what it is you are feeling rather than taking it out on someone else, which could be catastrophic.

Flareups in the workplace are almost everyday occurrences lately because we are working at jobs where multiple types of personalities are crammed into the same work space as we are, and they are sometimes not people we would choose to spend any length of time with if we were not at work. So, with personalities clashing before any stressors are added into the mix; it is no surprise that anger rears its ugly head periodically.

Internet chat rooms are another form of anger management activities that would be worth looking into as a source of self expression with other folks who share your feelings and experiences. You can ask questions, give insight, resolve problems and express your anger online with folks who know exactly where you are coming from and can sometimes give you the help you are looking for.

Getting things out of your system is always good, because the pressure is released and the opportunity is no longer there to go out and hurt someone. When you use a form of catharsis, you can get those feelings out and there is no need to involve anyone else, you are just writing in a journal and no one else will see what you have written. That in itself is beneficial, because you can let your feelings flow, examine what pushes your buttons, and why you feel like you do in certain situations. What in your past made you feel angry, despondent, hurt or abandoned----all of this can be dealt with on paper with abandon.

Anger management activities come in many forms; some involving just you and the source of the anger in a one on one situation; other activities may involve a group with a solution unique to the group involved; and still other activities would be you alone with a pen and a journal so you can vent the anger and emotion you are feeling, harmlessly onto the pages of the journal and release the build up of stress and emotion that is inside you. The idea is to keep writing until you feel a sense of relief and release, and that way you know you have accomplished your mission and the anger is gone.

Dividing Day Lilies

Through Corinth, Mississippi, a few miles south of the Tennessee state line, is on the southern fringe of the region where peonies can be grown successfully, it was here that I saw one of the finest peony gardens I have seen anywhere. It belonged to Milton Rubel, who began growing and hybridizing peonies decades ago. Once he grew named varieties, but he discarded those and grew only his own crosses. When I was there in early May he had well over a thousand seedlings in bloom; some clumps were twenty years old, while others were young and blooming for the first time. It was an enchanting scene if ever I saw one.

As one travels south, the number of peony varieties that will thrive and bloom well becomes fewer and fewer. In Meridian, Mississippi, approximately one hundred and fifty miles from the Gulf, some gardens have a few clumps that bloom from year to year; however, most gardeners feel that peonies are not worthwhile. If you want to try peonies that far south, I suggest that you plant the single and Japanese types, which do better than the fully double ones.

Irises in the South

The iris is, of course, one of the South's oldest garden flowers; one of my earliest recollections is of the beds of old blue and white flags in my grandmother's yard. The modern iris, however, is not nearly so widely used through the Mid-South as its beauty and adaptability justify. It is true that in several centers, notably Corinth, Jackson and Holly Springs in Mississippi, and in Nashville, Atlanta and Shreveport, there are plantings of some of the country's finest irises, but there are yet many sections where the new and better varieties are grown hardly at all. This is unfortunate, as it is generally agreed that the iris is one of our most dependable perennials.

In the spring I traveled over to Jackson, Mississippi, to see the iris planting of private grower who accumulated a sizable collection of the newer and better varieties.

The grower pointed out that price does not always determine the value of an iris and cordyline plants. It is usually the newer varieties, greatly in demand and limited in supply, that are high priced. Good garden varieties that have been on the market for several years may be had for a fraction of the cost of the very new introductions. June and October are the best months in the South for reworking iris beds and making new plantings or cordyline plant care, The iris enthusiast recommends planting the rhizomes on a small ridge with the feeder roots spread out and extending down into the soil. The rhizomes themselves are barely covered with soil; the tops of them are usually exposed after a heavy rain has settled the soil around them.

Dividing Daylilies

Since August is the accepted month for dividing and replanting daylilies as well as for making new plantings, I feel that perhaps many gardeners are dividing clumps more often than is necessary. While strong divisions will bloom the first year, it is not until the clumps are three or four years old that you can expect good, strong bloomscapes with the maximum number of flower buds. And one large clump makes a better show in the garden than half a dozen small ones.

How to See People Instead of Labels - And How to Truly Change Our World

What would the world look like if we all accepted each other? What would it look like if people were appreciated for what's on the inside rather than the outside? Would the world be a happier place? Absolutely!

My so-called "handicapped" body (seeing as how I don't have arms) allows me to watch how society acts around people with special needs. As an Inspirational Speaker, I often get to tell my audiences that society sees me as handicapped way before it sees me as a person.

Recently, during a trip to Baltimore, my 18 month old daughter learned to hold my foot with her hand while we are walking in a crowded area. You see, I drive a powered wheelchair with my right foot, and with my left, I am able to hold her hand to make sure she stays safe. It's what any parent would do for their child.

What is amazing to me is my daughter's complete and total acceptance of me as her dad despite not having arms. She views me with admiration and unconditional love. She doesn't see me as handicapped or disabled. She sees me as her daddy.

One of my favorite presentations to give is on seeing others as human beings, full of potential, rather than classifying them with restricting labels. Political correctness has determined that our old labels are no longer appropriate due to changes in society. While making sure we don't hurt feelings is a good step to take, I often feel that we are missing the bigger picture.

What if, instead of labels, we saw all people as simply, people? If there was no need to classify, we wouldn't have to come up with creative ways of saying hurtful things. Without labels, everyone in our society would be on equal ground.

What would a label-less world look like? There would be no war as we wouldn't be bombing the "enemy" but rather bombing "people." There would be no poverty because the "poor" would be seen as "people." So, let's get started. The next time you catch yourself labeling someone, try getting to know them instead. You'll be amazed at what people have to give.

Generating a Basic Web Design Template

A "template" is simply a design format which you can apply to all (or most) of the pages in your web site. The first advantage of using a "template" system is that it allows you to make your most important design decisions at the beginning, and then just focus on content. The second advantage is that it allows you to quickly create new pages based on your standard design.

The disadvantage is that many template-based websites look homogenized and seem to lack a unique character. Designers who sell templates tend to use the same formats over and over again, insert the same generic images, and use the same techniques.

Just as important, templates are often not ready-to-go right out of the box. They almost always need alteration, and often modifying a professionally prepared template is difficult because the designer will have used techniques you may not fully understand or are specific to the tools he or she used to create it.

So it is preferable not to think of a web template as the kind of thing you buy from an online template store. Rather just think of it as a basic page format that can be used over and over again. The best template is therefore one that uses "standard" techniques that can be modified without the use of specialized tools or programs (like Front Page or Dreamweaver).

Creating a Basic Template

If you are not familiar with web design, try working with a "bare bones" template to begin with. There are two ways you can go. You can work with basic HTML and tables, or you can create your basic template with CSS. Since CSS is rapidly becoming the new standard, it is almost certainly better to begin with CSS -- especially if you have not yet become used to constructing web pages with tables.

CSS stands for "Cascading Style Sheets", but at the beginning it is not important to understand what that means. What is important is to understand that CSS allows you to create a set of formatting parameters in a "style sheet" (a separate file) which you then can very easily apply to your individual pages. In other words, you separate the "style" from the "content".

Collectors of rugby league memorabilia have a new reason to be excited because the Sydney Roosters are poised to sign former Wallaby star Lote Tuqiri. Team brokers are preparing to make Tuqiri a significant offer to get him to Sydney for the next season. Tuqiri will have to take a pay cut but it may be worth it to him to get back into the league after being dismissed from the league and having his contract terminated.

If Tuqiri accepts the Roosters' offer, the value of rugby league signed merchandise bearing the player's name is certain to greatly increase. The deal looks likely, though it does hinge on a few factors - new Roosters coach Brian Smith's assent and if the team drops Setaimata Sa's contract. Collectors sadly won't be seeing any West Tigers jerseys or other Tigers-related rugby league memorabilia with Tuqiri's name, since the Tigers have dropped out of negotiations following Tuqiri's announcement that he had no intention of signing with the club.

The success of the deal also depends on the acceptance of new Roosters coach Brian Smith and the club's termination of Setaima Sa's contract to free up the resources to make Tuqiri a substantial enough offer to get him to sign.

Tuqiri is a fan favorite and the Roosters would definitely like to be able to add this star to their team. Right now it all comes down to whether the club will be able to make Tuqiri an offer which is too good to pass up. It currently appears that the Roosters are the only team in contention to sign Tuqiri, with the Bulldogs out of the running due to the increase in Brian Goodwin's contract and their signing of Junior Tia Kilifi and Mickey Paea. The Gold Coast Titans have announced that they've also decided not to pursue Tuqiri.

While all of this is going on, the rugby league Supreme Court is reviewing Tuqiri's expulsion from the league with lawyers from the league and Tuqiri's management both in favor of the dispute being resolved in an expedient manner. As for Tuqiri himself, he's been playing club rugby after taking three months away from the game.

Lote Tuqiri is a huge draw with rugby fans and naturally, the Roosters would be pleased to get this superstar on their team. At the moment, everything seems to hinge on whether the Roosters can make the player a large enough offer to interest him in signing on with the club. However, the Roosters seem to be the only club still in contention to sign Tuqiri - the Bulldogs have dropped out after increasing Brian Goodwin's contract and signing Mickey Paean and Junior Tia Kilifi.
