A GFCI constantly monitors the flow of electricity between the two sides. As long as everything is working and stable, there are no problems. But as soon as there is a deviation in the current flow, the GFCI trips out and cuts the flow of electricity.

The Arena Football League Reaches The End Of The Line

After canceling their 2009 season, the Arena Football League has shut down entirely and appears headed for bankruptcy. Earlier this week, the league office released a short statement indicated that it had ceased operations because owners were "unable to reach any consensus on restructuring the league over the past eight months." The league had reached a new agreement with players earlier this year, but was unable to convince enough owners that they had a viable plan to return to profitability. The leagues statement continued that there are no other viable options available to the league right now."

Even before the decision was made to cancel the 2009 season this past December, it had been a tumultuous off-season for the Arena Football League. It began with the resignation of long time AFL commissioner David Baker just two days before the Arena Bowl championship game. Though Baker put a positive spin on his resignation saying that he felt it was time, the timing was curious. Imagine the symbolic weight of the gesture were David Stern to resign right before the NBA finals, or Roger Goodell to step down before the Superbowl"even though Baker insisted that it the decision was strictly for personal reasons it doesnt exactly send a positive signal about the stability of the league.

In October, the owner of the New Orleans VooDoo announced that the team would cease operations"despite being one of the league leaders in attendance. In announcing that the team would fold, owner Tom Benson (who also owns the NFL Saints) cryptically explained that it was due to circumstances currently affecting the league and the team."

A dispersal draft to reassign the VooDoo personnel was scheduled and postponed several times amid assurances from the AFL office that rumors of financial instability were unfounded.

The inability to get any consensus on a business model for the league reportedly served as the final nail in the AFLs coffin. A major problem was skyrocketing player salaries, and some sort of compensation system tied to team revenues was a necessity. That agreement was reached with the players, but a bigger schism was left between several factions of owners"primarily drawn along lines of overall wealth.

Despite the demise of the Arena Football League, it wont be the end of the road for the twenty two year old sport. The 50 yard indoor war lives on in the AF2 league which, ironically, was originally started as something of a developmental organization for the AFL. The league plays in smaller markets and has a more realistic salary structure. A number of current AFL players"and possibly a couple of AFL franchises"could end up in AF2.

If you're just starting out on your guitar playing journey - these beginner guitar lessons will help you progress faster. In my 10 years of playing the guitar, I've learned quite a few things. It was not easy in the beginning, but it would have been easier if I had known the things that you're about to learn.

Begin with a Real Instructor

Although you can learn a lot from online guitar lessons and books and dvds - they can't take the place of a real, live person. This is especially true in the beginning. You really need an actual person to show you the correct way to hold your guitar; where to put your fingers; and how to strum different basic rhythms. When you make mistakes (you'll make a ton in the beginning) your instructor can physically show you what you're doing wrong. Only a real-live person can do this for you. And you really need this in the beginning. You don't have to go to your instructor for a real long time if you don't want to. You can get all the basics down after a month or two. Then you might choose to learn everything else from books, videos, or online lessons.

Practice Consistently

If at all possible, fit daily practice into your routine. It's not a good idea to skip more than a couple of days between practice sessions. It doesn't take an hour a day to get good. You can make real progress putting in a solid 10 or 15 minutes a day. If you only practice once or twice a week, you won't progress nearly as fast. Even if those sessions are hour long sessions. Muscle memory and guitar reflexes need consistent, regular reinforcement.

The First 2 Weeks are the Hardest

Everybody finds it tough in the beginning. Your fingertips will hurt; your hands and wrist will be sore; and your neck and back might be sore too. But if you push through the pain, you'll be rewarded. Your fingertips will toughen up after the first week or two. You will begin to form calluses which will make playing a lot less painful. Your hands and wrist will begin to get stronger too after a couple of weeks of practice. You're using muscles and joints that aren't used to being stretched in the way that you're stretching them. If your neck and/or back are hurting, then this means that your posture isn't right. Tell your teacher about this and try to find out what you're doing wrong. Many times, these problems result from: not sitting up straight; craning your neck to see what you're playing; and being too stiff (not relaxing while you play).

You Need a Quality Guitar

So many people try and save money and start out with a cheap, low quality guitar. This is a terrible idea. Most cheap guitars are extremely difficult to play. The strings usually sit too high off the neck - which makes it hard to press the strings down to make notes and chords. They don't stay in tune very well - it's vital to have a guitar that will stay in tune. And often there is bad fret buzz, which will make your music sound terrible. Get the best quality instrument that you can afford. You can find a good quality beginner acoustic or electric guitar for $180 to $200. Try out as many guitars as possible before buying one. Take a friend with you who knows how to play guitar, or ask a sales clerk to demonstrate for you. Stick with a name brand guitar and you won't go too far wrong. Here are some good name brands that offer entry level guitars - Fender, Yamaha, Ibanez, and Epiphone.

Hopefully, these beginner guitar lessons will get you off to a great start. Just be consistent in your practice schedule and you will definitely make consistent progress.

We see a lot of packaged diet foods on the shelf these days. These may be promoted as Lite, Diet, low carb, low calorie, or low fat foods. But since the US has a big obesity problem, and since we Americans buy a lot of diet foods, one has to question these packaged foods.

What Diet Foods Will Help us Lose Weight?

Some obvious food choices that help people lose weight are fruits and vegetables. They contain a lot of water. This helps us feel like we are eating a good amount of food without adding a lot of calories to our daily diet.

Meat is Just Dessert!

We are not asking you to start eating like your pet bunny either! We are just asking you to try changing the way you approach your meals. We tend to take a lot of meat and bread, and then put a little salad or veggies on our plate. Instead, pile your plate high with salad and green beans. Then add a small portion of bread and protein.

Fruit is Nature's Wonder Food
